Ação educativa da enfermagem na prevenção do câncer de próstata

Abstract

The prostate is an exocrine gland that constitutes the male reproductive system and therefore it is susceptible to intrinsic changes that affect human health such as prostate cancer, which remains one of the most important health problems to be solved globally due to increased number of cases that affect the man in his old age, emphasizing the importance of nurses' actions in this process. The objective of this work is to describe to the Family Health Program (FHP) performance in the prostate cancer prevention through the nurse’s behavior. The present work it is a literature review through sources such as: Virtual Health Library, Scielo, Pubmed and health ministry manual using the following descriptors: nursing, prostate and men's health, always aiming at the nurses’ performance in the prostate cancer prevention. It was concluded that the performance of the professional nurse in the FHP is essential, since their formation is humanistic and involves direct patient care in three levels of care, so the aging men's health and needs the attention of the professional nurse acting in holistic form in their care, considering every detail and proximity to this individual, keeping it in their home environment, thus improving their quality of life.
