A IMPORTÂNCIA DO SUPORTE PSICOLÓGICO E DAS INTERVENÇÕES PSICOTERAPÊUTICAS NO PROCESSO DE LUTO DE FAMILIARES DE PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS

Abstract

This paper addresses the importance of psychological support and psychotherapeutic interventions in the grieving process of relatives of cancer patients. The paper will present a historical context of death and mourning and how these two have changed over the years, focusing on how this has affected cancer patients and their relatives immediately. Palliative care will also be discussed, with its historical basis reported, and from a psychological perspective, as an aid to these patients and their relatives in this desperate moment. The bibliographic bases used were articles from the SciELO.Org website as well as bibliographic records of authors relevant to the subject. Finally, psychological interventions and strategies that can help family members deal with grief and adapt to the new reality after the loss of a loved one are discussed. This study aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of grief in the oncological context and to the appreciation of psychological support as an essential part of comprehensive health care.
